The whole Asianista community went “gaga” when former Asian College of Technology- Integrated School Division student now turned celebrity-- Morissette Amon sang the hit singles of Lady Gaga. This includes the renowned Born this Way. This remarkable homecoming happened last July 29, 2011.
The culminating activity for the month of July held at the school’s lobby was just like any ordinary ceremony not until Morissette Amon’s much awaited performance. The Asianistas were hungry for her highly anticipated performance since she left the school last year to pursue her dreams to showcase her talent. The anticipation grew stronger because the student they once knew is now a fast rising celebrity.
Before Johanne Morissette Amon became the first runner up of TV 5’s Star Factor and before she stepped into the limelight, she was one of the school’s pride. She won first place for the singing competition category in the 2009 Talisay City Drug Watch. She does not only excel in the field of music, she is also a consistent honor student. While here in ACT during her freshmen years, she ranked 2nd honors and got the Best in Performing Arts award. Not only that, she is also a great leader and had always been the young Asianista’s inspiration and role model.
Amon, amidst the success and fame she has now achieved, stays humble and down to earth. She never forgets to thank her Asianista family, and her alma mater, ACT. May she continue to inspire the young generation. Amon is a living example of humility and determination. Kudos Morissette!
Here is an interview done by our ACT On line correspondent, Nhydya Nazareno with Morissette Amon.

Nhydya:  Did you expect to reach this far?
Morissette: I really did not expect that I’d be able to reach this far, being a newcomer in the industry after “TV5’s Star Factor” and all. Each opportunity I’ve been getting is a surprise and it excites me every time. I am very happy with what I’ve achieved so far.

Nhydya:While you had your first career in Manila, what was the biggest adjustment you felt you had to do?
Morissette: It had to be my “Tagalog”. I’ve been weak with it since then and I realized that I just had to improve double time. But of course, I am not ashamed of my native tongue. I’ve met many who speak in “Bisaya” in Manila and I love conversing with them.

Nhydya: As a student, what do you miss the most?
Morissette: I would say the culminating activities because that’s when students get the chance to showcase their abilities and everyone would gather to watch and appreciate them. It unites the school and it’s that fact that I miss the most.

Nhydya:So far, what was the biggest challenge you faced as a star?
Morissette: In my case, it would be being apart from my family. It was very hard for all of us because we were used to always being together.

Nhydya:What are your hopes and expectations of your career?
Morissette: It’s not gonna be a fast nor easy ride, that’s why I always try to remember that I’m doing this for my family because it is a team effort, a dream we all wanna build together. I hope that someday I’ll also be an inspiration to many.

6. What’s your favorite part of being a  tv5 talent?
Morissette:  My favorite part of being a “kapatid” is that while the network is growing, I’m also growing with it and it inspires me to improve and develop more as an artist.

Nhydya:To whom are you most thankful for?
Morissette: I am most thankful to the Lord for all the wonderful blessings I’ve been getting throughout the years. But I am also very grateful to my family because they’ve always been very supportive from the start.

Nhydya: Do you have any message for the “ASIANISTAS”?
Morissette: First of all, thank you so much for believing in me, for being with me throughout the years and for all the great things I’ve learned. I hope I have inspired all of you to be the best of who you are and to never stop believing that you can reach your dreams as well. Just bear in mind that God is always there and always appreciate the efforts of your family. I hope to visit you guys again soon! God Bless!
